Keith Holter and the Longhorn Band play a danceable mix of music from the archives of classic Western Swing.
With its roots in the cultural melting pot of the Southwest, the folk and fiddle music of the house party and street dance, as well as blues and jazz, Western Swing as played by Bob Wills, Spade Cooley, Hank Thompson and others packed dance halls across the country in its heydey.
| Guitarist Keith Holter learned and performed Western Swing in those very dance halls, playing around Portland and Southwest Washington, but sought out by Country and Western stars on tour in the Northwest who needed a good lead man....like Lefty Frizzell, Little Jimmy Dickens, and T Texas Tyler.
Hear Keith's mellow, twangless tone and deft improvisation, and you'll know why jaws still drop when it's his turn to play, and why he's been inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Seattle Western Swing Society, The Western Swing Society of the Southwest, and the Sacramento Western Swing Society.
Keith is joined by fellow Western Swing Society Hall of Fame members Dave Holter, drums; Pat Goodbla, rhythm guitar and vocals; and Dean Rankin, pedal steel.
Vickie Giles on vocals, Rudy Alexander on bass, and Kevin Healy, fiddle and vocals, round out the group.
stay tuned as we continue to build this website!
Thanks.
